So Bannon had an entertainment investment bank and it actually went up to pitch Cameron Sears Peter McQuaid and a few others behind the scene guys in 1998 on raising money for the Terrapin Station club project in SF. My firm at the time also pitched the Dead guys. I went up with my guys but we were kind of buttoned down. I heard that Bannon went into the meeting and told them "You all know the Dead have sucked big time since Pigpen died" and they roared with laughter and almost hired him. First time I have publicly told that story Edit: I havent seen him for almost 20 years and almost forgot about him when I saw him on TV with DT,

That goes along with just about all my impressions of the man.

I think I saw him at a show at Red Rocks. He was telling me the un-toasted (white) bagels he was selling were far superior to the toasted ones being sold nearby and they shouldn't even allow the toasted ones in the parking lot.

Hitler liked Beethoven, Bruckner, and Wagner .
Stalin's favorite was the luminous Mozart Piano Concerto 23 .
Manson liked the Beatles .

And I am sure all of us have friends, who are wonderful people, but who have mind frying bad taste in music .

Friend of mine at work who I showed the article to said "You can't really be surprised. The guy looks like he just fell out of a VW van after a couple of months on the road with little concern for personal hygene....sound familiar?"

Looks fake to me - Photoshop is so ubiquitous. Note how flat the light is on Bannon's face, and how sharp he is, compared to the others. Is this "alternative facts"?

I always was skeptical about those heads super excited for Unbroken Chain (yawn!) and now I know why. Not that I'm stereotyping a human being for his choice in music...Though perhaps denying entry to the U.S. based on lousy taste in Grateful Dead songs seems at least as arbitrary as being born in country x, y, or z.

I hear he did a stunning version of "Don't Need Love". Wait, no, I think it was "Don't Need Your Tired, Your Poor, Your Huddled Masses Yearning to Breathe Free". Not as catchy, but still a strong tune.

What's the big deal? I recall lots of people enjoying the lyric, "A friend of the devil is a friend of mine,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"

"They're telling me forgiveness is the key to every door"
